It all started in 2017, with an international company searching for information on the enforceability of choice of law clauses across several African countries.
Guess what? The research was long, labour intensive and very, we mean very, expensive! Now, two years later, Afriwise gives everyone access to African legal knowledge and vetted local experts with just few clicks. Amazing, isn’t it?

Tackling the issue of access to accurate and up-to-date legal information in Africa requires a truly Herculean effort.
So it’s fitting that Afriwise is a collaborative effort between a core team consisting of senior qualified lawyers and legal journalists on the one hand and over 100 law firms across Africa on the other.
Pooling resources for the benefit of many makes Afriwise cheap too! Fantastic, right?
The world is getting (Afri)wiser!
Since the launch of Afriwise in 2019, companies and organisations the world over have been able to access outstanding premium and up-to-date legal, risk and business information on, currently, 9 African markets, without paying outrageous legal fees. Countries covered are Angola, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. Zambia will be launched in January 2020.
And more countries are coming in 2020: we can’t stop, we won’t stop! You can expect the following countries from us in 2020: Botswana, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mauritius, Mozambique and Senegal.
